Region: Lisbon & Tagus Valley Region (Portugal)
The region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley is centrally localised in the Portuguese territory and represents approximately 13% of the national area (~12 000 km2) and have 3,7 millions of inhabitants. The region includes 52 municipalities distributed by 5 districts. In the framework of the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for statistical purposes (NUTs) of the European Union, the region has a Level II, constituted by 5 regions of Level III: Great Lisbon, Setúbal Peninsula, Oeste, Lezíria do Tejo and Médio Tejo. Great Lisbon and Setúbal Peninsula form along with Mafra (Oeste) and Azambuja (Lezíria do Tejo) municipalities the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.
