DOROTHY project attended the final conference of the FURBOT project which was held in Barreiro, Portugal. According to the projects’ website (http://www.furbot.eu), the FURBOT project proposes a new concept architecture for a light-duty, fully electrical vehicle for efficient sustainable freight transport in urban areas. A vehicle prototype is being developed, in order to demonstrate in practice the performances expected. The main features of the new vehicle are: energy efficiency, sustainability, mobility dexterity, modularity, intelligent automated driving and freight handling robotization.
The Portuguese Cluster Contact Point, João Cleto from AGENEAL, and João Gouveia from logistics company UNILOGOS which is also a DOROTHY cluster member were present. Both went for a ride on the newly designed vehicle and had the chance to test it. João Gouveia said the “vehicle has optimal solutions for loading and unloading” and João Cleto stated that “the vehicle is well designed. The next important steps are to test it on a real environment and evaluate a business model.
